Online Therapy

Dr DeFlumere provides online therapy in order to make therapy services as accessible as possible. If online therapy does not feel right for you, Dr DeFlumere offers outdoor/hiking therapy on a limited basis. Dr DeFlumere is based in County Wicklow, Ireland and can provide services worldwide, pending local laws. Please indicate if you are located outside Ireland in your query form.

COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. DeFlumere earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees at Trinity College Dublin (M.Sc. Applied Psychology and Doctorate in Counselling Psychology). She is a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland.

She also holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Anthropology from Mount Holyoke College, informing her context-aware and culturally-responsive therapeutic practice.

She completed her doctoral placements in Adult Mental Health, in child and adolescent primary care, and in Psycho-Oncology.

Dr. DeFlumere Biography

Dr. Leora DeFlumere is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (M10259C). She has devoted her career to conducting research, therapy, and assessments related to trauma, neurodivergence, and relationships. 

Dr. DeFlumere is committed to situating her clients in their contexts, leading her therapeutic approach to be informed by social justice and to be culturally responsive. She takes a considered therapeutic integration of third-wave CBT’s and humanistic therapies, creating a collaborative, bespoke therapeutic plan in line with best practice and her clients’ therapeutic goals. 

She has a professional background in working with a variety of presentations across multiple settings, including primary care, adult mental health, employee assistance programmes, hospitals, and group assessment practices. Dr. DeFlumere provides clear, articulate, and well-researched opinions both in her liaison with other health professionals and in relation to legal settings. 

She has specialist training in working with neurodivergent individuals and a background in identifying Autistic adults’ neurotypes following the neuro-affirmative framework. She has a specific interest and experience in working with Autistic people who were assigned female at birth.

She has specific training in providing trauma-informed practice and has delivered training to other front-line professionals in providing same. Her award-winning doctoral research was on experiences of post-abortion therapy, leading her to be particularly committed to feminist, trauma-informed fertility, perinatal, and postnatal mental healthcare. She has completed specialist training in birth trauma.

Dr. DeFlumere is trained in the Gottman Method of Couples’ Therapy, an evidence-based, practical approach to relationship improvement. She has a unique specialisation in neuroaffirmatively supporting neurodiverse relationships, in which one partner is neurodivergent and the other partner(s) are not.

She has provided training to other health professionals on gender and sexuality diversity, informed by research and her own membership of the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. DeFlumere is specifically interested in supporting individuals, couples, and families undergoing fertility intervention, who have had experiences of reproductive loss, or who are experiencing infertility. In addition to her clinical training, therapy with these clients is informed by Dr. DeFlumere’s family’s experiences with fertility treatment.
